If your answer was C, I don’t know what to tell you. If your answer was D, however, congrats!! You are a regular whiz kid in the making. 20×200 is a project by Jen Bekman, the owner of the Jen Bekman Gallery in NYC. The project is based on the theory “that there are a lot of people out there who want to sell their art and a lot of people who’d like to buy it. ” Each week, Bekman showcases two prints: one photograph and one work on paper. She then offers 200 of each of the prints for $20, 20 medium-sized prints for $200, and 2 large editions for $2000. Not only is the idea is pretty genius (first apartment decorations, anyone?) but the uniqueness and creativity of the work actually warrants the $200 price tag (that is, if the $20 are sold out) If you are looking for some Robert Mapplethorpe or Anne Geddes rip-offs to match your fancy Italian leather love seat, then you are certainly in the wrong place.  Expect to find one(or 200)-of-a-kind, interesting and complex works by lesser-known artists. Peep some of the current works for sale… Read the rest of this entry »
